Treatment for Acne and Acne Scars

Acne is a common skin condition that effects millions if not billions of people worldwide therefore acne treatments can be very popular especially if they work. Acne affects not just the face but also the neck, chest and back. It is inflammatory due to the overproduction of sebum (oil) in the sebaceous glands. When sebum interacts with bacteria, the result is acne that is usually in the form of pimples, pustules and cysts. Teenagers are more prone to acne due to their changing hormone levels.

Acne Treatment will depend upon how severe it is. Mild and moderate acne can be treated by using mild soap and/or facial scrubs. One must be careful in using facial scrubs though since it can block skin ducts. Alternate use of soap and scrub could address this dilemma. You may also use a drying agent for faster treatment such as benzyl peroxide.

When acne is severe, stronger treatments are required. Aside from oral treatments, chemical peels are usually recommended. This is more so when the pimples or other inflammation-related signs occur in big sizes and in larger groups, leading to scarring. What chemical peels can do is to strip off dead skin cells that hold scar pigments together. When you peel, gradually, scarring may be lessened as healthier and clearer skin is revealed.

When you have pimples, you must not prick them because doing so increases your chances of scarring. If you visit a dermatologist, s/he will likely tell you to make use of non-comedogenic products. These products will not block the pores thus reducing the development of pimples. If you have to use makeup choose mineral cosmetics since these will not penetrate deep in the skin. The last thing that you want to buy are products that block the sebaceous glands.

You also have to carefully watch what you eat and drink. A nutritional plan suitable for an acne sufferer is with more vitamins and less starch. You should also eat foods that are high in fiber such as vegetables and fruits since they can help regulate bowel movements. Waste material remains in our blood if not properly flushed from your system on a regular basis. Regular bowel movement can reduce the occurrence of breakouts.
